First, I am so sorry for your horrible treatment. That isn't acceptable at all. It is horrible to be denied equal access and opportunity because of perceived things beyond our control.

I'm not disputing your experience. I am genuinely interested in the discrimination you face. I had been taught by my few Romani friends that as a group Romani people preferred not to be labeled as "gypsy," but rather "Romani." I''m not asking you to speak for your entire peoople, but I am curious if you find this true among the Romani community or your family? I feel so deeply uncomfortable using the word "gypsy." I am trying to be respectful. Please let me know if I am being rude.

I have an employee who prefers "indigenous" and a best friend who prefers "native american" and another colleague who prefers "american indian" to describe their cultural heritage. Sometimes in the room with all three of them dicussing such topics and I make it clear why I am using each term. These things are extemely complicated. No one should have to speak for an entire people. I'm often asked to speak for "what do Black people think?" It's offensive. So I'm asking what do you prefer? Do you prefer Gyspy?

I'm not sure if your screen name here is your given name, but how does someone know you are Romani when you submit a resume?

I do know and acknowledge such stereotypes and treatment of Romani people exists.

Often the tests about getting callbacks and interviews has to do with whether our names sound Black or White. What are the things that trigger people to know that you are Romani on your resume?

Is that as a person of proud Romani heritage you make it clear that you are Romani?

You shared significant insights that help everyone here learn. Thank you so much.
